AusChron: More Cactus Thorns; González unilaterally drops prerequisites

This week’s Austin Chronicle features “More Cactus Thorns: Cafe decision still hanging”, which identifies the following critically important issue:
[UT VP for Student Affairs] González said any plan should meet four prerequisites … [h]owever, there had already been a list of prerequisites — previously agreed upon by González and the other members of the Cactus Conversations consultation group — and his new list drops the commitments to keeping the cafe open six days a week … and continued community involvement.
Also note Cactus Cafe regular Sara Hickman on this week’s cover, and the accompanying article “Sara Smile Still: The confessions of Sara Hickman”, in which she is quoted about the Cactus Cafe: “I will chain myself to the bar the day that wrecking ball comes, and they will have to take me with it.”
